Royal Project Development Center, Mae Chaem District, Chiang

The Center is situated at Baan Den, Watchan, Mae Cham District
in Chang Mai Province. It has an area of 244 square kilometers and
is 960 meters above sea level with an average temperature of 20.3
Celsius. There are vast conifeous and deciduous dipterocarp forests.
The population in this area is Karen.
Visitors are welcome to join :
Activities
- visit Karens demonstration plots of vegetables and cold-climate
fruits, such as Japanese apricots, persimmon, plums, and Chinese
pears. Farming system grows organic vegetables and fruits that
are free of chemical pesticides.
Tradition and Culture
- Propitious spirit ceremony to thank the house and guardian spirits
- Tie-ing Hans Ceremony is held 1-2 times per year to boost villagers
morale
- Votive Offering Ceremony to obviate patients diffi culties
and sufferings Welcome Ceremony with a special tea formula
to welcome guests from other towns
Trekking Sites
- There are two trekking routes :
- visit the forest of Pinaceae, full of wild orchids and various
kinds of local birds (1 kilometer by vehicle and then 2 kilometers
on foot from the Center)
- tour the forest of Khasiya with a variety of plants and scarce
birds (a 1 kilometer walk from the Center)
